Mt Burdett Farm Lease

Both the Mt Burdett Farm (2130 arable ha) and Knuckle Downs (667 ha) are available for lease from 2026 year for a three year term followed by a three-year option.

The properties have excellent production history reflecting sound management and good use of inputs in a sustainable rotation. The improvements are exceptional and well setup for a turn key operation.

The production system has focused on cropping with a rotation of wheat, barley, canola, lupins, peas and legumes. There is a focus on continuing Chris's approach by managing the farm in a way that will secure its productivity into the future with continual improvement at front of mind.

The farm has been managed extremely well by Adam den Engelsen under the guidance of the Farm advisory committee chaired by Esperance farmer Greg Curnow who provide advice to the Mt Burdett Foundation Board chaired by David Falconer.

Several factors drove the decision to lease including reduction in farm size, increase in fixed costs including machinery replacement and the desire to achieve long term financial stability. Funds generated by the farm are distributed to the Esperance Community Foundation and the Rural and Regional Foundation. The Foundations were set up by the late Chris Reichstein before his passing in July 2021 and have distributed over $1.4m to various projects in the last 4 years.
