This week, New Zealand's real estate auction market has shown signs of recovery. Although the number of listings has slightly decreased, the clearance rate has significantly increased.

This week, a total of 212 properties were up for auction, with results collected for 178 of them. Of these, 91 properties were successfully sold, while 86 were passed in, raising the clearance rate to 51%. Compared to last week, there were 7 fewer properties available for auction (a decrease of about 3.2%), 27 more properties were successfully sold (an increase of about 42.2%), and the clearance rate improved by 12 percentage points, indicating a notable increase in market activity.

Performance varied across regions, with Auckland's North Shore, Central Auckland, and South Auckland showing significant growth in clearance rates:

The clearance rate in Auckland's North Shore increased by 16 percentage points to 56%.

Central Auckland's clearance rate improved by 11 percentage points to 45%.

South Auckland saw a 16 percentage point jump in its clearance rate, reaching 58%.

Auckland's East continued to remain stable with a clearance rate of 58%. In West Auckland, although the number of auctions increased, the clearance rate also rose by 7 percentage points to 43%.

In terms of price, the mainstream transaction range this week was between $1 million and $1.5 million, with 21 transactions, accounting for the largest share.

The highest sale price this week was for a property on 15 Okahu Street in Orakei, Auckland, which sold for $3.65 million.

The median sale price for homes this week rose to $1,215,000, with the average sale price climbing to $1,282,287. This reflects a significant increase in the proportion of high-priced property sales, indicating heightened market interest in mid to high-end properties. (Data for reference only)
