Herbert Kakanui Support Block
협의가Property is 53ha in size located 5km south of the Kakanui settlement and accessed directly off Maclean Road.
Contour of block is flat to gentle rolling with some nice elevated sites overlooking the Pacific Ocean and coastline towards the Moeraki peninsula.
Soil type is the fertile Claremont silt loam which is suitable for cropping and stock finishing. Block is divided into 10 paddocks and has a cover of lucerne which has been oversown with a short rotation ryegrass.
Three units of water supply from the Oamaru/Herbert Waianakarua Scheme feeds a 30,000 litre storage tank that gravity reticulates paddock troughs.
Located at entrance of property is a good set of cattle yards with head bail and loadout ramp.
There is also a North Otago Irrigation Company turn-out box located on the property with the ability to supply irrigation water. Currently the property has no allocation of irrigation shares to supply water through this turn-out box.
Currently used as a cut and carry dry matter block that supports a larger farming operation.
