This week, New Zealand's real estate auction market has shown signs of recovery, with both the number of listings and clearance rates trending upwards.

A total of 231 properties were up for auction this week, with results collected from 129 of them: 68 properties were successfully auctioned off while 61 were passed in, yielding a clearance rate of 53%. Compared to last week, there was an increase of 61 properties (around 35.9%) up for auction; the number of successful auctions grew by 32 (an increase of approximately 88.9%); and the clearance rate improved by 2 percentage points, indicating enhanced market activity.

Performance varied significantly across the major regions, with notable performances in Auckland North Shore and Auckland South:

The clearance rate in Auckland North Shore rose by 42 percentage points to 85%.

Auckland South saw a significant increase in the clearance rate to 59%, up from 0% last week.

Auckland East experienced a decline in the clearance rate, dropping by 25 percentage points to 50%. Auckland Central and Auckland West saw slight adjustments, indicating a slight weakening in market stability.

In terms of prices, the mainstream transaction range this week was between $1 million and $1.5 million, with 7 sales, making it the largest proportion.

The highest transaction price this week was a property at 2 Tweed Street, Herne Bay, which sold for $5 million.

The median sale price for the week significantly increased to $1,125,000, and the average sale price also rose to $1,042,713, reflecting increased demand for high-priced properties, with market interest focusing on mid-to-high-end properties. (Data for reference only).
